Psychotherapist/Counsellor

Hi, I’m Steve — a qualified pluralistic psychotherapist/counsellor, which basically means I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I
draw on different types of therapy, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, and person-centred counselling,
so we can work in a way that suits you. In practice, that just means I can adapt how I work depending on what you need
— not the other way around. It’s flexible, collaborative, and focused on what feels most helpful in the moment.
My aim as a counsellor and as a person really, is be down to earth, warm and authentic. I don’t do advice or quick fix's — though I’ll
admit to the occasional bit of psychobabble if it helps us make sense of something together. Mostly, I’m here to offer a safe,
supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk freely, have honest conversations and feel genuinely heard.
My path into counselling started with my own struggles. During a difficult time in my life, talking things through with a counsellor
helped shift my perspective — it gave me clarity, and a sense of strength I didn’t know I had. That experience had a big impact on
me and eventually led me to do this work myself.
Now, I get to walk alongside people as they make sense of what’s going on in their lives. I believe counselling is about you —
your story, your struggles, and your hopes — and my role is simply to walk alongside you. Whether we’re exploring
deeper patterns, working through something specific, sitting with your thoughts and feelings or just trying to make sense
of the ups and downs of life.
I offer sessions in-person, online, or by phone — whatever feels most comfortable for you. However we meet,
you’ll find a calm, supportive space where you can talk freely and be met with empathy and care.
Whatever brings you here, you’re welcome — just as you are.

Experience:

I have worked with clients across all age groups, including children, young people, and adults. I have offered counselling support
through online, telephone, and in-person sessions, during my work in a low cost counselling service and a Childrens/Young Persons
mental health charity. My work has brought me into contact with people from diverse backgrounds, and I have supported clients
facing a wide range of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, grief, and stress.
